The main purpose of the Performance Deduction is to incentivise the Contractor to meet the Performance Standards which are set out in the Output Specification. The deduction regime should be developed so that the deductions resulting from a service failure reflect the impact (which could embrace more than the direct financial impact of service failure) on the Authority of that failure.
