The main achievements include:
o The establishment of the Joint Management Unit (UGA) with representatives from each partner. The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) operated as broker contacting the water and sanitation company as well as community organizations. Roles and responsibilities have been established through separate agreements of each partner with IIED and reinforced through meetings, letters and reports.
o A comprehensive research exercise (diagnóstico) on the nature of water and sanitation service provision across Moreno. This activity included the systematization of information scattered in different departments of the municipality in order to assemble a map of water (mapa del agua). The results of the research were validated through workshops with community organizations. This allowed an accurate knowledge of the water and sanitation situation of the district.
o Awareness raising and capacity building workshops for community organizations and different municipality departments. The workshops covered the following themes: sensitization about joint management, participation in a joint management unit, socio- economic, environmental and health impact of safe water and adequate sanitation.
