To support the strategies the project was implemented through 3 components:
1. Information, Education and Communication
2. Training on solid waste management and PPP's
3. Clustered- Barangays Solid Waste Management project
These 3 components were implemented in parallel and in a complementing manner. The Project Task Force (PTF) was spearheading most of the project activities.
A series of local consultation workshops and meetings were held, including mobilization and inception workshops, a Community-Organizers meeting and the Project Task Force organizational meeting. These consultations have led to the organization of the PTF by local project partners to lead project implementation.
Several events for awareness raising on solid waste management and recycling activities as well as partnership development have been organized. For example in 2003 a big BasuRock concert was held for a few thousand members of communities. Also workshops on appropriate systems of segregation of waste for specific communities were organized.
Stakeholder consultations were held under component 3 to prepare prototype cluster MRF guidelines. In several consultations, the technical, operational and maintenance aspects of MRF were discussed.
