The main achievement of the PPPUE Programme in Uganda has been the development and implementation of pilot projects. These have been carried out in six urban areas and have resulted in the establishment of Local Steering Committees with representation of local stakeholders. The Local Steering Committees have carried out baseline surveys on environment and urban infrastructure service delivery and have identified, through participative mechanisms and initiatives, priority concerns to be addressed. One pilot town implemented a sanitation project, five pilot towns carried out solid waste management projects.
