WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM TO CREATE A PPP FUND AND PPP CANADA?

JF: We committed in Advantage Canada, our long-term economic plan, to establish a federal PPP office so that we would become more proactive in leveraging the assistance, expertise and capital of the private sector in meeting Canada's infrastructure needs.

PPP Canada was created to help protect taxpayers from future costs, encourage good project management, increase the pool of capital available for infrastructure, help expand the market for PPPs in Canada, and offer new investment opportunities for domestic investors such as pension funds.
