The Waste Infrastructure Development Programme (WIDP) builds on and brings together several existing streams of work within Defra's Waste Implementation Programme. The intention is to accelerate the building of the infrastructure needed to treat residual waste without compromising our efforts to minimise waste and support increasing recycling levels. Only a combination of these activities will allow us to meet our obligations for biodegradable municipal waste under the Landfill Directive.
