Provide practical support to local authorities through skills development to complement existing information sources.
WIDP is advocating:
1. skills development of local authority procurement teams;
2. development of support packages/toolkits for project managers;
3. provision of transactors to support project teams through the procurement process;
4. peer communications and reviews.
5. publishing best practice guidance, including the 4ps procurement pack. This provides standardised documentation to speed up procurement process and provide rigour for local authorities during risk management and negotiation skills development of local authority procurement teams,
6. building capacity through project team training and direct involvement in the key project team activities;
7. facilitating inter-authority communication through network groups and electronic chat rooms for project teams to discuss current issues, monitor common obstacles
8. developing support packages/toolkits for project managers setting out the key milestones in the process and the reporting requirements and key messages attached to each stage of the process
9. providing experienced transactors to support project teams through procurement process to add hands-on assistance through transactors' commercial skills
