The business profile is a useful tool to assist through the remainder of the project. It is a brief, plain English project summary that encapsulates all of the key elements of the project. The business profile will be prepared at the commencement of the business case development stage.
The business profile should include an outline of:
• the service requirements;
• stakeholder requirements;
• viable technical solutions and projects delivery options;
• qualitative analysis of the project delivery options, indicating a likelihood of achieving a value for money outcome;
• expected requirements for environmental, planning, Cultural Heritage, Native Title and specialist technical studies that may be required to inform the project; and
• Preliminary risk allocation.
The business profile is a useful synopsis of the key elements of the project, and should be kept up to date as further analysis is undertaken during the business case development stage, to ensure that it remains a relevant synopsis of the project.. It is then used as a project management tool, for the reminder of the project, and a key informer for those coming to the project fresh. It will also form one of the elements from which the market sounding and project brief will be developed.
