Planning adviser

A planning adviser may be required if a preferred site for development has been acquired or identified. An early appointment may help to identify planning policies and other controls that apply to the infrastructure proposal. It may take several months for council planning permits to be issued or for state government Minister's to approval amendments to planning schemes. In these instances it may not be possible to allocate the associated risks to the private party in a way that demonstrates value for money. Similarly, there may be environmental impact matters to address before the project is put to the market. Early focus on this aspect of the project is important. The planning adviser may also fill a key role in ensuring that aspects of public interest are protected.
