Derech Eretz set advanced construction criteria in managing environmental awareness and landscape development along Road 6, investing US $70 million towards this end. Since the two tunnels nearby the Moshav Hadid and Ben Shemen interchanges go under an archaeological site called the Tel Hadid, the system's tunnels were excavated to preserve and prevent damage to the site, which is of great cultural and historical importance to the nation.
