On January 2006, Mr. Manuel Cuan moved to México City and started his own consulting firm. During that time, he worked on various projects with Mexican local, state and federal agencies. Since 2008, Mr. Cuan has at the Secretariat of Csommunications and Transportation of the United States of México (SCT) as Deputy Director for International and Intergovernmental Affairs. He is role involves participating in international and binational negotiations of border infrastructure in bridges and border crossings in coordination with diverse agencies, companies, organizations and federal, state and municipal, at national and international institutions. He is also involved in modernization of existing crossings and new border infrastructure projects, managing national studies and projects, establishing priorities of construction, modernization of international bridges and crossings.
Mr. Cuan has also served as a political appointee in the Bush Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Prior to this Mr. Cuan served 13 years at the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) in a variety of positions drawing on his engineering and trans-border expertise. Mr. Cuan, a native of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, earned his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering in 1987 from the University of Arizona, where he was honored as one of the top civil engineering graduates at the University of Arizona. He is registered as a professional civil engineer in the state of Arizona and in México, and is fluent in English and Spanish.
