Praveen Mahto

Praveen Mahto is an Indian Economic Service officer of 1992 batch and is presently posted as Director in the Planning Commission, Government of India. His current assignments primarily involve promotion of Public Private Partnership (PPP) as the preferred mode for construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure projects in Highways, Ports and Railways sector.

Before joining Planning Commission in 2010, he was Additional Economic Adviser in Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. Earlier, he served the Indian Government in various positions, including Assistant Economic Adviser in Department of Consumer Affairs and Deputy Director in Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. Praveen has a post-graduate degree in economics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He underwent a rigorous in-service training course in Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi for about a year before joining the Government of India in 1993.
