Colin Duffield is an Associate Professor in Engineering Project Management in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, on the Executive of the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute (MSSI) and research theme leader Infrastructure and Transport, at the University of Melbourne. He has degrees in Engineering, Management and a PhD that investigated efficient frameworks for the private involvement in the provision of major public infrastructure. He practiced as an engineer and then a project manager for fifteen years prior to becoming an academic in 1991 and his recent research has focussed on the efficient procurement of major projects via PPPs and alliances. This research has considered the governance of long term contracts and the interaction between policy, technical matters, risk management, financing and contractual arrangements.
He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, a member of the Australian Institute of Project Managers, Project Management Institute (US) and a Registered Building Practitioner.
