THE NEXT FOUR YEARS

- An increase of $206 million for capital expenditure is budgeted over the next four years. This will allow for upgrades to respite centres, day program centres, group homes and other support accommodation.

- The Government's 10 year Disability Plan Stronger Together is reforming the existing system so more people with disabilities can live at home. For those unable to remain in the home, a wider range of accommodation will be provided.

- Four respite centres are currently being upgraded with completion in 2009.

- Two day program centres are currently being upgraded with completion in 2006-07.

- In 2006-07, $14 million will be spent upgrading group homes and residences and a further $35 million to be spent upgrading accommodation to 2009-10.

- Options for specialist accommodation are being developed including expenditure of $16 million to reconfigure the Grosvenor and Lachlan Centres as specialist State-wide accommodation services for people with complex health care needs and challenging behaviours.

- In 2006-07, $19 million will be spent on the acquisition of specialist accommodation places, with a further $57 million to be spent up to 2009-10.

- A $3 million program to move children from large residences into group homes will be completed in 2006-07.
