3.17 Under the Coalition Government, the Department for Communities and Local Government has prioritised decentralisation and localism. The Department expects local communities and individuals to "hold local public service bodies to account for their use of resources".23 There have been significant changes in the types of information that communities and individuals can access. Local authorities have been encouraged to make new information transparent, while established frameworks for collecting and reporting performance information have been discontinued.
