It is mandatory that all emerging capital projects in excess of £5m (full capitalised project costs) be assessed in terms of their level of risk using a Risk Assessment Form. High risk and Mission Critical projects will be prioritised by the SGHD and Centre of Expertise and may be referred for a formal external Gateway Review, or series of reviews. All other projects in excess of £5m must be subject to formal Peer Group of Self Assessment Review at the appropriate Gateway. Where projects are less than £5m, or of a lesser risk category, the NHSScotland organisation is expected to satisfy themselves that the key issues dealt with at each Gateway stage are adequately addressed internally through governance and approvals process.
There are 6 Gateway Reviews undertaken through the programme and project lifecycle, which are detailed in the OGC Gateway Pack Guidance, available to download from the OGC website, or in hard copy format from OGC, both free of charge.
