The involvement of the Office of the President of Mongolia in October 2008 in a global internet-based discussion on Capacity to Effectively and Sustainably Deliver Local Basic Services to the Poor I organized by the UNDP is Capacity Development Group through its Capacity Network, has resulted in hosting the National Workshop on Public-Private Partnerships for the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in Mongolia organized on 24-25 November 2008 by the Government of Mongolia under the patronage of the president of Mongolia and with technical and financial support from UNDP, UNICEF and ESCAP.
As a follow up of the Workshop, the Government and the Parliament of Mongolia have taken several actions. The Parliament Public Private Partnership (PPP) Ad hoc Committee chaired by Member of Parliament Mr. R. Amarjargal and including 11 other Members of Parliament has been established by decree of Speaker of Parliament of Mongolia in November 2008. The PPP Ad Hoc committee was mandated to analyze existing legal, economic, financial and social environments for PPP in Mongolia and develop legal documents to be submitted to Fall session of the Parliament.
As of March 1st 2010, the State property committee is responsible for implementation of both state policy on PPPIs and the concession law.
