This section provides guidance on Programme and Project Management (PPM), and is supported with links to core reference documents, templates and examples of best practice documents.
In developing this section of the Scottish Capital Investment Manual specific reference has been made to the:
• Scottish Government Construction Procurement Manual
• The Project Management Institute's 'Body of Knowledge' (PMBOK)
• Scottish Government Policy on Architecture
The contents describe the changing environment, culture and influences on the management of infrastructure development programmes and projects and outlines the key accountabilities of NHSScotland Bodies.
It covers the concept and benefits of a Infrastructure Programme Management approach and the structure, key roles and responsibilities that mu st be discharged to ensure the successful organisation of individual projects.
The principles and application of core project management processes required to effectively deliver projects are outlined along with common reasons for project failure.
It also acknowledges and reflects the commitment made by the Scottish Government to policies on architecture and design quality which seek to improve the quality of Scotland's buildings, both public and private, and in the quality of our built environment.
