Since its inception, ministers have required SIB to promote and foster the reform of public sector infrastructure processes. The aim of this work has been to embed best practice within the civil service in ways that will significantly improve the ability of departments to deliver large programmes on time, within budget and in ways that demonstrate best value.
SIB's response to this requirement includes:
• developing and promoting the use of standard contracts;
• supporting departments in the commercial exploitation of their assets;
• offering secondment opportunities for civil servants to work alongside SIB staff; and
• promoting sustainability as a key consideration across programmes and projects.
