16.5.1 The Race Relations measures largely mirror those in the Race Relations Act 1976 which applies in the rest of the United Kingdom. However, the equivalent Northern Ireland Order outlaws discrimination against the Irish Traveller community. It also specifically excludes discrimination on the grounds of religious belief or political opinion which is dealt with under the Fair Employment and Treatment (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.
