654  Additional Cover Features & Extensions may be appropriate for certain projects.

655  For certain projects where there is only a very remote likelihood of the risk materialising, and the probable impact of any such loss is perceived as being very low, e.g. street lighting projects, an Authority may elect not to include this extension as a Required Insurance.

656  For projects in England, Scotland and Wales the majority of this cover is typically provided by the Government-backed market mutual reinsurer: 'Pool RE'. Pool RE does not provide protection for projects in Northern Ireland. However under the provisions of the Criminal Damage (Compensation) Northern Ireland Order 1977, these projects will instead benefit from compensation provided by the Northern Ireland Office (see SoPCNI Section 24.3).(Note: This does not preclude use of commercial insurance should it become available).
