Relief Events are deemed to be events which are no more within one party's control than the other. The "risk" of a Relief Event is therefore split with the Contractor taking the financial risk but getting extra time from the Board to complete the Facilities - i.e. it would not be reasonable to terminate the Contractor for failure to complete because of a Relief Event. In terms of the Contract the Contractor therefore only gets "Time" relief and no financial compensation. This incentivises the Contractor to deal with the event as quickly as possible.
