3.17.1 Each room in a new facility will have an equipment list associated with it including both items for transfer and those to be bought new. The room should have a number consistent with that shown on the architect's drawings. Room numbering is important and should be considered at the earliest stages of a project to ensure the ease of developing the design through to final commissioning. A project wide numbering system should be agreed at project inception. These drawings should also locate individual items of furniture and equipment at 1:50 scale.
3.17.2 Industry standard briefing and drawing information software such as Activity DataBase (ADB) utilises generic graphics and coding for each item of equipment. It is sensible to allocate each item a letter or number and show this on the plan. Colour coding is also useful. A copy of the plan and the list can be attached to the door of the room. Staff invariably (and often through necessity) bring additional items and pieces of equipment. The Commissioning Team must be aware of this and manage as best they can. The number of electrical sockets and data points can be an issue, particularly if the number of staff allocated to a room changes.
3.17.3 New items of furniture and equipment should be labelled with the number of the room into which they are to be placed, and given the letter or number corresponding to the location in the room which they will occupy. Items for transfer can then be dealt with in the same way. This should ensure that when the time comes to transfer into the new facility, there is no confusion as to the room and location that the piece of furniture or equipment will occupy.
3.17.4 Agree a procedure on tagging to ensure that only tagged equipment is transferred.
