Legislative-DOT Collaboration and Communication

Formal and informal, mainly through the DOT legislative liaison. GDOT meets regularly with members of the General Assembly and must submit several reports every year to the House and Senate transportation committees. In addition to committee hearings, legislators often request information from GDOT. GDOT employs a dedicated legislative liaison in the commissioners office who drafts, finds sponsors for and lobbies for GDOT legislation and also testifies in legislative hearings. Most legislative-GDOT communication occurs through the liaison.
