In addition to committee hearings, legislators often request information from GDOT. GDOT employs a dedicated legislative liaison in the commissioners office who drafts, finds sponsors for and lobbies for GDOT legislation and also testifies in legislative hearings. Most legislative-GDOT communication occurs through the liaison.
