1.3  Design Life/Performance

The design process should not stifle innovation, however, it is expected that the design life of the following elements (including but not limited to) will be not less than approximately 60 years unless specifically stated within the contract documentation:

■  Structure / sub-structure;

■  Floors;

■  Roof;

■  Eternal walls; and

■  Underground drainage.

Replaceable components should have a life appropriate to the structure or to the specific elemental performance and usage of the component. A guaranteed parts availability of not less than 5 years is required.

The Contractor is to demonstrate the integration of mechanical and electrical engineering and Stations management requirements within the design throughout and within the entire design and construction process.
