1.13.6  Roofs

Roofs are to be windproof and watertight, and able to carry the specified load without distortion or damage. At all new Stations, roofs shall be pitched (or at least sloping) and be constructed of materials that are sympathetic to the neighbouring buildings. Consideration should be given to the ease of construction, lifecycle maintenance and to safety.

Insulation should be incorporated into the design to prevent areas of cold bridging.

Roofs must drain to a suitable gutter system.

The design of the roof configuration should take into account the prevention of unauthorised access over and onto roof coverings.
