1.13.9  Internal Walls and Partitions

Masonry walls should be designed and constructed to avoid shrinkage and movement stresses and/or cracking. All partitions are to be rigid in use and incorporate all necessary ties, restraints and straps.

Acoustic treatment is required to ensure mitigation of sound transmission between and from all rooms and spaces, but especially from toilets, plant rooms, etc, into adjacent rooms, offices and ancillary areas. Special attention should be paid to the integration of engineering solutions within the design and construction proposals.

Walling exposed in the finished works, e.g. ducts, voids, plant Zones, etc, should be constructed with a fair face finish. All fixings, ties, straps, etc, are to be concealed within ducts.
