1.13.21 Security
The security of the building and its operation should be maximised from the opportunities presented by the site, building form and layout. Sophisticated electronic surveillance and security equipment is susceptible to failure and false alarm and should therefore be seen as the last option. In addition, the location of functions within the building should be planned so that potential hazards are minimised9.
The use of swipe card / proximity card access controls may be permitted but only following detailed liaison between the Contractor and the Authority.
