1.2.21 Ceiling Finishes
A 25mm matt black shadow batten shall be incorporated at perimeters.23
Rigid ceilings may also be incorporated. It is anticipated that these will comprise a proprietary metal ceiling or plasterboard over a supporting framework with a plaster finish
Ceilings to be level and flush at joints, adequately secured and provide surface spread of flame performance in accordance with the relevant statutory codes.
Ceiling design shall take into account and be sympathetic to the acoustic properties of each installation location.
Moisture resistant ceilings will be required in areas such as kitchens, changing rooms, showers and toilets.
Suspended ceilings shall have no undue deflection, no missing tiles or planks and have no cracks or breaks that significantly affect the ceiling function.
Ceilings to remain level, flush at joints, adequately secured and provide surface spread of flame performance in accordance with the relevant statutory codes.
Ceilings that are to be plaster boarded shall be finished with a plaster skim and decorated with emulsion paint. All cut edges and angles are to be treated and finished to a high standard, noggins/supports provided, all in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
Plasterboard ceilings are to incorporate high quality access provision for access to and maintenance of services installations.
The underside of the concrete deck will be exposed in any Custody Suite and in garages and workshops etc. These will be finished with acoustic plaster (excluding cells and stores) to reduce sound levels.
