2.1.4  Identification of Services

Pipework and ductwork installed, both insulated and un-insulated, shall be identified to BS 1710 to indicate the nature of the service carried and its direction of flow.

Items of equipment and apparatus including pumps, switchboards, distribution boards, cables, control valves, etc, should have identification labels securely attached, on which should be inscribed the relevant details of the duty, reference and date of supply as specified elsewhere in this Output Specification.

Every item of apparatus which requires lubrication or any other attention should be labelled with the appropriate instruction and lubricant. A chart and schedule detailing the manufacturer's requirements should be provided.

Each valve should be labelled with a brass or traffolite label attached to the valve by a brass chain and indicating the circuit reference and the valve number. A valve chart indicating this information for each valve together with the valve size and flow rate should be permanently displayed on the main plant room wall.
