2.3 ELECTRICAL SERVICES
The following, standards shall be complied with as a minimum:
■ The requirements of the local Regional Electricity Company.
■ BS 7671, 1992, "IEE Requirements for Electrical Installations" Sixteenth Edition including the latest amendments.
■ Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.#
■ CIBSE Interior lighting Code 1994 and Lighting Guides LG1, LG3, LG6 and LG7 generally and where not otherwise defined elsewhere in this document.
■ Relevant current British Standard Specifications, Codes of Practice and Euro norm (EN) Standards.
■ Manufacturers' recommendations relating to performance of motors, switchgear, luminaires, wiring and any other items of equipment.
■ Recommendations advised by the Building Regulations/Approved Inspector.
■ The Lift Regulations 1999.
■ Electricity Council Guidelines.
■ Good working practice for standards of workmanship and quality of materials.
The electrical services systems referenced in this specification including cabling and accessories with reference to the office areas, should be completely concealed in the ceiling voids and behind the building fabric. Surface mounted services should be limited to dado trunking installations and store/switchroom/plant areas.
Accessories should generally be white moulded plastic for the office areas. Where surface systems are installed, accessories should be of the Metal clad type. The Contractor should ensure that the construction of the accessories is suitable for the environmental conditions that they will be subjected to.
