2.3.2  Cable Containment Systems

Conduits shall be sized, supplied and installed in accordance with BS 7671. All internal conduits shall be heavy gauge, screwed, welded steel conduit with a black enamel finish. Any conduits exposed to moisture/corrosion shall have a galvanised finish.

'Off wall' containment systems should be installed 'lid up'.

The fire alarm system shall be wired using red-sheathed MICC cabling routed independently from other services and fixed directly to the building fabric.

All general cable containment systems should be manufactured from steel. Dado trunking should be white PVC. Flexible conduits should be PVC sheathed metallic.

All cabling, irrespective of system or designation, shall be installed in accordance with all IEE guideline publications and recommendations.

General labelling shall be provided in accordance with BS7671 and where later specified.
