4.7  Stairs, Ramps, Balustrades, Walkways,

Stairs shall be designed to comply with Part M of the Building Regulations, with regards to maximum rise and minimum going dimensions.

Balustrades and handrails shall be designed and specified to an appropriate standard consistent with the area they are intended to serve.  Standards of finish shall be greater for feature areas than for escape stairs.

Ironmongery should be from a single proprietary range to ensure consistency throughout the Facility.

225mm high kick plates to be fitted to push side of all doors, and both sides on corridor doors. Push plates and pull handles shall be fitted on all corridor doors, all face fixed with radiused edges and rounded corners - pull handle on lead door only.
