3.8.1 Windows
Windows must provide good visibility, provide an acceptable view from a seated position and be easy to operate, particularly by people with arthritic hands or with little physical strength and people in wheelchairs; exception to this will be for the operation of opening lights in difficult to access areas (e.g. windows over kitchen units).
Wherever possible, both "active" and "passive" views from the windows shall be provided. Windows are to extend to floor where possible to allow full visibility to areas beyond. Full height windows to living areas and communal lounge/Restaurants are to be considered.
Windows are to allow the optimum amount of natural light into all parts of the each development; also achieve the appropriate air tightness and heat retaining properties. Care shall be taken to position windows so they can be effectively cleaned.
