3.9.1  Design

Sustainability should be considered in the following aspects of the design and operation of the facilities to be provided:

a)  Orientation

b)  Facade design

c)  Building layout

d)  Ventilation

e)  Building form

f)  Selection of materials

g)  Insulation

h)  Energy-efficient fixtures and fittings

Building services shall be installed with the needs of future perceived advances in building technologies and IT in mind, notably telecare.  Flexibility is considered to be the key to implementing this requirement.
