4.1.5 Circulation, Lift Lobbies and Corridors serving Apartments
All circulation spaces must be sufficient to allow two electric buggies to pass at the narrowest point.
Corridors shall be limited in length. [There shall be the facility for buggy parking and battery charging within close proximity to the entrance door to each apartment. This shall be integrated into the design of the circulation areas to add interest.]22
Incidental seating spaces shall be provided in corridors at key points and where the lay out allows in lift lobbies on each floor. Spaces shall be naturally lit. Supplementary light fittings shall be appropriate to the use of the space. There shall be views out onto external amenity spaces, where possible.
Handrails shall be provided to both sides of all circulation spaces and corridors; these shall be carefully designed to look like a dado rail, avoiding an institutional appearance, but being suitable for the proposed purpose.
Corridors shall be considered as "streets" and shall be named to aid wayfaring.

22 An alternative would be to have one or a series of centralised buggy charging areas. Previous schemes have sought charging immediately outside apartments to reduce travel distances from buggy to apartment entrance.
