4.1.7 Entrance Hall, Reception, and Cloakroom
The entrance hall is the place of "arrival" and the interface between residents and the Contractor and Care Provider; also between the residents and the outside world.
The entrance hall shall have a draught lobby, with automatic sliding doors.
It shall include incidental seating and occasional tables. The space shall be naturally lit, supplemented by light fittings which shall be appropriate to the use of the space. The space shall have views (direct or indirect) out onto the external arrival spaces.
The reception and desk shall be the focus for residents contact with "front of house", housing, care and FM staff. Provision shall be made for pamphlet holders, notice boards, etc. to advise residents of available services, forthcoming events etc.
There shall be a cloakroom conveniently located to the entrance hall, where visitors' outdoor clothing can be safely stored. Each cloakroom shall have natural surveillance or other means of security.
