8.7.4 Security Services
The Contractor will provide a security service that balances the need to ensure safety and security in a building that has public access, yet also recognises that the environment is someone's home.
In particular this service shall:
a) Using passive security means wherever possible, ensuring that resident areas are kept secure and separate from the public access areas, and in turn these are kept distinct from the care staff management areas. Where passive means are used, manage these to ensure proper and effective operation;
b) Support care staff in responding to resident alarms including monitored external doors, telecare alarms, etc;
c) Manage the proper use of the car park facilities, ensuring those using it do so with valid reason. Also ensure that designated emergency vehicle areas are kept free at all times (except when required by emergency vehicles themselves);
d) Provide key management services for the building, ensuring areas are locked and unlocked as appropriate;
e) [Manage and operate secure storage facilities to allow residents to safely store items such as suitcases or other items up to 0.5m3 per apartment. Provide an on-request next day deposit and retrieval service for items to be placed/placed into storage. Care should be taken to ensure that storage environments are appropriate to maintain items in a good condition]46; and
f) Arrange for the provision of security advice to residents as and when requested.
