Question 1: Approach to Building Design

1.1  The Authority will require a high standard of design and quality from this Project, together with a good quality and reliable facilities management service. How will you ensure that you deliver high quality, affordable buildings that are maintained to a high standard?

1.2  Based on the information provided to you to date and utilising your experience of these types of facilities please provide outline block plans indicating your design proposals for the disposition of the different 'zones' of accommodation on the site, together with their relationship with the surrounding townscape.

1.3  The Authority wishes to promote environmentally friendly and sustainable building solutions, which minimise CO2 emissions. Please provide initial proposals outlining how your affordable designs would meet these requirements. Provide examples from past projects of how consideration of the environment and sustainability has been incorporated into the building design.

1.4  Please identify the key construction risks that you believe may be relevant to this project and identify how you might approach the management of such risks.

1.5  Do you intend to use any innovative construction techniques or materials, and if so, how will these contribute to providing a high quality affordable solution, which can be cost-effectively maintained?

1.6  Please outline your programme, from Preferred Bidder appointment to construction completion.
