Henderson's PFI Secondary Fund invests in existing shareholder interests, being equity, shareholder loans and subordinated debt, of PFI and PPP concession companies in Europe, with a principal focus on the more developed UK PFI market. The primary objective of the Fund is to provide investors with a strong income stream, from the first year of investment, and stable capital values. The Fund primarily invests in operational assets and the team will seek to improve the return over time on these assets through a range of value enhancement strategies. PFI investments which the fund owns in various infrastructure sectors include a 30-year concession contract to treat wastewater for a 700-hectare area between Dundee and Arbroath, at the mouth of the Tay estuary in East Scotland.
