7 Classes of Service (CoS)
7.1 The Network shall allow the Authority to prioritise traffic into different Classes of Service (CoS) depending on the Authority's categorisation of traffic types. The Service Provider shall provide five CoS:
(a) 1 Premium CoS being the highest CoS, which allows premium traffic to be prioritised over all other traffic;
(b) 3 Enhanced CoS which allow enhanced traffic to be prioritised over standard traffic;
(c) 1 Standard CoS being the lowest CoS and which subordinates standard traffic to enhanced and premium traffic.
7.2 Service Levels in respect of each CoS shall be as set out in [x], Service Levels.
7.3 The Authority shall have the right to elect to allocate a percentage of the total available Bandwidth into any CoS. If at any time the Authority chooses not to allocate Bandwidth to a specific CoS, all unallocated Bandwidth shall be allocated automatically to the Standard CoS.
7.4 The Authority's Bandwidth allocation for the Site is set out in [x]. The Service Provider shall assist the Authority to define the Authority's traffic types according to agreed criteria such as the source or destination IP addresses, the source or destination ports and the application protocol the traffic is associated with.
7.5 Traffic in excess of Bandwidth allocation
(a) The Service Provider shall ensure that the Network caters for fluctuations in traffic by allowing certain traffic that exceeds Bandwidth allocation to burst into the Bandwidth allocated to other CoS as follows:
(i) Premium CoS - premium traffic in excess of the Premium CoS Bandwidth Allocation shall be dropped in accordance with the Service Levels;
(ii) Enhanced CoS - If enhanced traffic exceeds its Bandwidth Allocation it shall be allowed to burst into Bandwidth allocated to premium and standard CoS if there is available Bandwidth in these CoS. Traffic bursting from Enhanced CoS shall not be prioritised over premium traffic. If there is no available Bandwidth in any CoS, enhanced traffic shall be dropped in accordance with the Service Levels;
(iii) Standard CoS - If standard traffic exceeds its Bandwidth allocation it shall be allowed to burst into Bandwidth allocated to the enhanced and premium CoS provided that there is available Bandwidth in these CoS. Traffic bursting from Standard CoS shall not be prioritised over any other traffic. If there is no available Bandwidth in any Class, traffic shall be dropped in accordance with the Service Levels.
