Internet Connection in Public High Schools

As of2009, only 29 percent of the country's public high schools had an Internet connection. Table 5.8 shows that the least number of connected public high schools are in the Cordillera (CAR), Cagayan Valley (Region II) and Bicol (Region V) regions. This can be largely attributed to budgetary constraints or the high cost of setting up infrastructure, especially over difficult terrain or geographical locations. Many unconnected public high schools are also located in areas not served by private telecommunications companies (telcos), which could indicate the digital divide between urban and rural areas across regions.
