FIs concentration in urban areas

The uneven distribution of regional income and savings has led to the concentration of financial institutions and delivery of financial services in high-income and urbanized areas. Bank density, for instance, has remained at five banking offices per city or municipality for the last decade, leaving some 37 percent17 of the country's municipalities either unserved or underserved.
