Fremantle

Fremantle is the primary container port for the west coast, accounting for 78 per cent of WA's imports.409 It had a DEC of $2.65 billion in 2011, which is projected to grow by 140 per cent to $6.36 billion in 2031. Fremantle is a mixed use port handling containers, 10 Mtpa of bulk liquids (crude and refined oil imports and exports) and 9.3 Mtpa of mixed bulk. Fremantle's annual container capacity is 1.2-1.4 million twenty foot equivalent units (TEU), only 50 per cent of which was utilised in 2011. It is forecast to have the strongest growth rate in the country, apart from the bulk commodity Pilbara ports.
