2.1 In our June 2014 report The centre of government, we identified core roles for the centre in setting out a clear operating model for government and presenting a coherent view of government activity.11 In this part, we examine Government Digital Service's (GDS's) role in setting strategy and consider its recent experience of:
• developing a clear strategy for government;
• setting out GDS's own role;
• monitoring progress; and
• establishing processes and responsibilities for reassessing objectives.
