The Policy and Strategy for Public Private Partnership (PPP) 2010, provided the basis for the establishment of the Public-Private Partnership Office (PPP Office) as an autonomous body under the Prime Minister's Office. The PPP Office became fully operational in January 2012, following the appointment of an international PPP expert as Chief Executive Officer.
After operationalization PPP Office initiated the formulation of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Act which was promulgated and gazetted in September 2015. The Act transformed the PPP Office into the PPP Authority as a statutory authority under the Prime Minister's Office and under clause 4 & 9 provided the basis for establishment for the PPP Authority.
