1.6  Research Design Overview

A more extensive explanation for, and argument to support, the research methodology is provided in Chapter 2 but a brief overview is given here.

Crotty's (1998) Social Research Design Framework will be applied to this research as it provides clear direction based upon the theoretical assumptions that underpin the choice of the research problem, the research questions, the research aim and objectives, and points to a methodology and method. Fig. 1.2 below illustrates the stances that have been selected and thus form the foundation for the research design.
