A purported key objective of contract management is to ensure that private partner obligations are met for the full contract term (Partnerships Victoria 2001: p.172). Although considered as a last resort, contract termination can be enforced if the service provider repeatedly fails to meet its contractual responsibilities (Partnerships Victoria 2001: p.172, p.25). In such situations, long-term government funding commitments and priorities may be put at risk unless an alternative service provider is found. See Table 6.15 for the identified sub-issue.
