705. Continued deepened digitisation will have an impact on the global energy demand. Currently, the Government's Energy and Emission Projections do not take this into account in their forecasts. Since the International Energy Agency (IEA) reports that "data centres and data transmission networks are responsible for nearly 1% of energy-related GHG emissions,"511 this could become increasingly non-trivial and should be included in energy forecasts and modelling.
